Why I Started Greed Fandango

Why I Started Greed Fandango

A few years ago, I was hospitalized due to an illness and underwent surgery.

It was not considered a major operation, and I was able to leave the hospital after about a week. On paper, a week is not a particularly long time. But while I was there, each day seemed to pass incredibly slowly.

During that time, one thought kept returning to me.

I was fortunate. I knew that I would probably recover and go home within a week or so. But what if I did not? What if I never fully recovered? If my life were to end without warning, what would I regret leaving undone?

The answer came to me almost immediately: music.

Music had once been one of the most important parts of my life. But after entering the workforce, starting a family, and taking on the many responsibilities of everyday life, it had gradually been pushed aside. The songs and ideas I had written over the years remained unfinished, quietly gathering dust.

After leaving the hospital, I began revisiting those old songs and fragments of music. I listened through them, reorganized them, and selected the pieces that still meant the most to me. That process eventually became the starting point for this EP.

Along the way, I was incredibly fortunate to meet YUHKI. At moments when I was struggling with uncertainty, his advice, encouragement, and support gave me the motivation to keep moving forward.

I later reached out to Evolin, whom I had known since our university days and who had since established herself as a professional vocalist. Although we had not spoken for many years, she accepted the invitation without hesitation.

With the support of these remarkable people, and after nearly two years of writing, arranging, recording, and refining, this EP was finally completed.

This project began with a simple realization: I did not want music to remain something I once loved. I wanted it to become part of my life again.
